The constellation of Andromeda originates from the myth of the beautiful princess Andromeda in Greek mythology. She was the daughter of Queen Cassiopeia and King Cepheus of Ethiopia. Her mother, Cassiopeia, boasted that her beauty surpassed that of the sea nymphs, provoking the wrath of the sea god Poseidon. As punishment, Andromeda was chained to a rock and offered as a sacrifice to the sea monster Cetus. However, the brave hero Perseus, using the head of Medusa, turned the monster to stone and saved her. The constellation of Andromeda represents the figure of this mythological princess.
