*天動説と地動説とは何か？
昔の人々は、地球が宇宙の中心で、太陽や星がそのまわりを回っていると考えていました。これを「天動説」といいます。しかし観測が進むにつれ、その説明では合わない動きが見つかりました。そこで、地球を含む惑星が太陽のまわりを回っているとする「地動説」が登場します。地動説は当初受け入れられませんでしたが、観測や研究によって正しいと認められていきました。宇宙の見方は、人類の歴史の中で大きく変わってきたのです。
*What are the geocentric and heliocentric theories?
In ancient times, people believed that the Earth was at the center of the universe, with the Sun and stars revolving around it. This idea is known as the geocentric theory. However, as observations became more advanced, astronomers began to notice motions of the planets that could not be fully explained by this model.
As a result, the heliocentric theory emerged, proposing that the planets—including Earth—orbit the Sun. This new perspective offered a simpler and more accurate explanation of planetary motion. Although it was not accepted at first, continued observations and research gradually confirmed its validity.
Over time, humanity’s understanding of the universe has changed dramatically, reflecting the power of observation, curiosity, and scientific progress.
