*カレンダーはどのように決まるの？
暦には「太陽暦」と「太陰暦」があります。現在、世界共通で使われているカレンダーは太陽暦です。太陽暦とは地球が太陽の周りを一周回る期間を基にして一年を決める暦です。古代ではエジプト文明やマヤ文明で太陽暦が使われていました。私達が今使っているのはグレゴリオ暦と言い、1582年にローマ教皇グレゴリウス13世が制定した暦です。1年を365.2425日としているため、4年に1度閏年で調整しています。但し、例外として100で割りきれて400で割り切れない年は平年となりますので、西暦2100年は閏年とはなりません。
*How is the calendar determined?
There are two types of calendars: the solar calendar and the lunar calendar. The calendar currently used worldwide is the solar calendar, which determines the year based on the time it takes for the Earth to orbit the Sun. In ancient times, the solar calendar was used by civilizations such as the Egyptian and Mayan civilizations. The calendar we use today is called the Gregorian calendar, established by Pope Gregory XIII in 1582. It adjusts for leap years every four years, considering a year as 365.2425 days. However, as an exception, years divisible by 100 but not by 400 are not leap years. Therefore, the year 2100 AD will not be a leap year.
