*太陽の寿命はどれくらいか？
太陽は約46億年前に誕生し、現在は安定した状態を保っています。その寿命はおよそ100億年と考えられており、現在は寿命の半ばにあたります。しかし、太陽も永遠に輝き続けるわけではありません。あと約50億年後には中心部の水素を使い果たし、膨張して赤色巨星になります。この過程で地球を含む内側の惑星に大きな影響を及ぼします。その後、外層を宇宙に放出し、最終的には白色矮星として収縮し、徐々に冷えていきます。その頃に私たちはいませんが、太陽も地球も命の終わりが必ずあるのです。
*How Long Will the Sun Last?
The Sun was born about 4.6 billion years ago and is currently in a stable phase. Its total lifespan is estimated to be around 10 billion years, meaning it is about halfway through its life. However, the Sun will not shine forever. In about 5 billion years, it will exhaust the hydrogen in its core, causing it to expand into a red giant. This process will significantly impact the inner planets, including Earth.
Afterward, the Sun will shed its outer layers into space, and its core will contract into a white dwarf. Over time, it will gradually cool down. While we won’t be around to witness this, both the Sun and Earth will inevitably come to the end of their lives.
