*Why Does the Moon Cause Tides?
The ocean’s water rises and falls several times a day, and this is due to the Moon’s gravitational pull. The Moon exerts a strong force on the Earth, causing the water to bulge toward it. On the opposite side of the Earth, water also bulges in a similar way, which is why we experience two high tides and two low tides each day. During a full moon or a new moon, when the Sun, Moon, and Earth are aligned, both gravitational forces combine, creating particularly high and low tides known as spring tides. When you visit the sea, try observing the tides while imagining the movements of the Moon and the Sun influencing the water.
